-day 133-

Hey everyone! :)

It's been a while since the last time I blogged.. Sorry ><

This semester I am trying to be better… In some sense.
Well, six (deadly) courses with four core courses and two common core courses..
Woah.

I guess this semester I have gained some more lessons on essential skills in life (that I categorise as compulsory skills in our coming life)

1. Time Management

Yeah. With all the things that we have to handle…
This skill is so vital. Like, seriously.
And thanks to HKU (and this chur semester) it seems that I have picked up some basics on this!

2. Patience

It's not that I declare that I could give my right cheek when someone slaps my left cheek.
But to be honest, I could 'proudly' say that life tested me quite a few times this semester.
Well, didn't quite pass them… But I will try to do better!

3. Replying Email (of Writing in general) Professionally

Yesh. I love this.
I don't know why but I feel that I made hundreds of these stuff.
Application for this, application for that, cover letter, CVs, mailing professors…
But now I realise that this is one more lesson to be grateful of ;)

4. Knowing how (and what) to talk in interviews
Speaking from my own experience, your body language (facial expression, sitting straight up and showing some smile) together with some signs of enthusiasm is super important.
And one more stuff: make sure that you speak confidently and stay HONEST. You may 'brag' about yourself a little bit but don't make it to explicit. Keep it simple and classy ;)

5. Studying inside my room (?)
Well…
The truth that we cannot always expect to study with your friends..
Or to get any decent place to study on campus..
So yeah xD

6. Reviewing lectures

If you don't feel any difficulty or need to study more..
Than you need to move to a better university!
So starting this semester I could feel the 'hardness' already x_x

7. Eating less (?)

My 7 kilos… T_T

8. Taking decent photographs
Well, due to my next point, this has become a very crucial skill to obtain.

9. Enjoy more of my life!

YESH! I love this part the best!
So starting this semester, I decided to explore more of the foods and sceneries that Hong Kong offers!
If you want to take a peek about what I have stumbled upon around Hong Kong, you could visit my Instagram account below here:

So I guess that's all that I want to share through this post :)
Hope that you guys will have an amazing semester like mine! <3

Cheers!

-day 132-

Hello all ;)
So basically this is my first post after (finally) turning legal.

and YES I AM EIGHTEEN. 18. 十八. じゅうはち。

There's so many people questioned me that I got unsure… And counted from 1995 to 2013 with my fingers.

One thing for sure: this is one unforgettable birthday <3
To be honest, I never feel this loved. Like, seriously.
I abused my glandula lacrimalis last night. Literally.
Was brought into tears a lot of times. Crying out of happiness and anger, from emotion and physical reasons. But that was super lovely <3

Finally eighteen! <3
Yeah. A lot has happened this year. Thank You, God!
So here's something that I've learnt throughout this year:

1. My life is full of blessings. And I am very grateful for it :)

2. Try new foods. Go to new places. Meet new friends. You'll never know what you'll get :D

3. Growing old does not always followed with being (more) mature. It's more of a decision.

4. Responsibility comes together with… Everything?

5. Appreciate any quality time you have with your family. This is the first time I really merantau (life
faraway from my family) and realised that from now on meeting them could be considered as a blessing.. I miss them so much ;_;

6. Life will never stop throwing lemons at you. But to make lemonades from them is your decision. It's never too 'busy' or too 'stressful' if you decide to enjoy life :)

7. Appreciate small and insignificant things around us. Good food, cool weather, pretty flowers… Anything. Life's way sweeter this way :)

8. You were never meant to face the world alone. It's okay to lean on somebody once in a while. Even the strongest person needs help.

I know it is waaaaay too late. I'm currently facing my finals (and as always, I blog to procrastinate lol).
And recently I fell in love with instagram - despite my trashy photo taking and editing skill.
Feel free to visit - and follow me there ;) (and I will follow you back, don't worry haha)

Instagram
It's not a trap.

Okay. Time to fetch my bed.
See you real soon!
So much love,

pieches.

-day 131-

Hey all :)

So we had our Student Ambassadors Superpass Dinner last Friday.
And it's super fun! x)

So, what is Superpass anyways?
It's called '勁過' - ging gwo in Cantonese, literally means strength pass.
And I think it could only be found in Hong Kong, or even only in HKU! xD
It's done every time we're going to face our finals, to wish each other to super-pass the exam.
Super interesting x) At first, we get to pick a 紅包 (red envelopes or angpao lol)

So cute! That's why I picked this one :p

And here's what's inside:

What?? Coins??? (and it's only 1.3 HKD!)

I was freaking confused until one of my friends explained what it means.
個三 - go sam. It's the cantonese for that HKD 1.3; and it pretty much sounds like guo sam (過三) that means over three (YEAHHHH). And some will only get HKD 1.2… Means over two (aww….)
Super interesting, isn't it? LOL. But that's not all! xD

So, there's mainly three parts of the event:

1. Writing calligraphies - faat shu 法書 (if I'm not mistaken lol. It means your calligraphy)
So all of us were given a chance to write down calligraphies on a red paper; don't ask me how could I write xD. The phrases were:

過三爆四 - gwo sam baau sei
(pass 3 exceed 4 - refers to our GPA. And our max GPA is 4.3 anyway)

(name)勁過 - (name) ging gwo
(wishing someone to super pass the exam)

And here's mine:

I know it's barely readable LOL

So, here comes the second part: FOOOOOOOOOOOD!

And it was 好 味 (hou mei - means delicious) x). Best part?

HAHAHAHA

Well, there's one more interesting thing about this: there's a dish that we may not eat by scooping it.
It's a cashew - mixed with pork. I forgot what and why; will tell you once I could find the meaning LOL.

Last but not least: the most essential part of the superpass:

Chopping the roasted pork!

And the porks were still like this:

Cute piggy.. Feel bad for you D:

Another belief here: we have to chop it in one try; it's like a 'clean pass' or something lol.
And I did it ;) HAHA
Super scary. Was afraid that I might not be able to chop it in one swing; or even worse: the knife might fly off my hands *hiiiy*
Some failed to do it; and ended up 'minced' the pork in their attempt to chop it. D:

This is something that you will definitely not find elsewhere~
Feeling so lucky to be able to join this :)
It was great night, Love it so much!
Thanks for reading this super long post anyways.
See you later!

So much love,
pieches~

-day 130-

Oh gosh.

It's been sooooo long since I last posted. In fact, it's almost 6 months!
Can't believe how I miss writing. How I miss telling my pieces of life through my lovely blog that has been my curhat-buddy for more than three years.

So, here I am now, at my dream university; The University of Hong Kong.

I still can't believe that I made it, even after spending almost a semester here.

Everything here is simply… Magical. It somehow exceeds pretty much every expectations that I had for my uni-life (probably because of my super-low expectation sih. LOL)

So here's my mini-summary of my life here:

1. Meeting new FRIENDS from all around the world - EVERYWHERE.
2. Being a PART of some COMMUNITIES. And of course, the choir <3.
3. VOLUNTEERING; can't wait for more! ^_^
4. Eating LOVELY FOODS (yeah really. I gained 6 kilos during my first two months…).
5. Having to WALK everywhere (well this sucks tho. Expect to see my fabulous tukang becak alike calves when you see me later)
6. Living HEALTHIER than ever. Seriously. Especially for diet and 'exercise'. Most people said that being an anak kos - or simply an uni student will make your life miserable; unhealthy. But well…. Have to admit that for my sleeping hours tho. LOL it can't get worse.
7. Being a part of a WORLD-CLASS UNIVERSITY. This place will be the worst place to study if you expect to excel and be a genius amongst the students. Trust me. Had my confidence level beaten up; to the level that I really doubt myself.
8. You have to speak ENGLISH most of the time. Bleh. Just realised how bad my english is; especially when you come from a national curriculum. Now this is trouble.
9. More about LANGUAGES. My expectation before I got here was to be able to survive with english; that most people understands english. GOD DAMN IT. Now I'm learning three languages at the time: Chinese, Cantonese, and most important: BODY LANGUAGE. LOL.
10. Still about language; we could talk with Bahasa Indonesia very comfortably. Except in Causeway Bay, where 80% of the people around you will understand.
11. The workload is pretty much the same with SMUKI. Our beloved chur high school. (Chur means something like what we've been through for 3 years).
12. There's no parents to pay attention and take care of you. Having to be responsible for pretty much everything is somehow hard. And I MISS MY PARENTS SO MUCH T_T
13. and many more…

I could write up to infinity just to describe these months. But I'm quite sure this will be your response if I continue to write:

tl;dr

So I'll just stop for a while. And well, I should be preparing for my speaking test; but I can't resist the temptation to write. LOL.
Well if you guys kinda miss me and want to see my newest photo….

HAHA. It's me; pretty much. Playing around and feeling cold. LOL
Okay. Will get back with you guys later on. See you!

So much love,

pieches :)
